Pine County District Soil &Water Forestry Intern CONSERVATION DISTRICT Location: Sandstone, MN Job Description: Successful applicant will spend a 6-month internship writing woodland stewardship plans. This person will obtain certification to write the plans for Pine County landowners, under the direction of the District Forester. Plans will focus efforts on conservation, water quality and sustainable forest management. Preferred Qualifications: Certified Forest Stewardship Plan Writer (or be willing to become certified) 4 year degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or Environmental Science - Basic soils knowledge to include: experience Good written and oral communicating skills with erosion control, basic soils identification, · Able to work independently in an outdoor and pollution control Basic tree and plant identification skills Familiar with basic forestry field work practices Self-motivated, enthusiastic environment The following skills/knowledge of programs listed is required Oral and written communication Microsoft Office · ArcGIS Employment Conditions: Full-time (40 hours/week), for a 4-6 month period.
